Found by Fleet :: April 2013 :: Meet the Mavens
Last week you met our fabulous April contestants, so we this week we’d love for you to get to know them!
{ Laura :: The Joyful Fox }

What’s your occupation? I’m a graphic artist for an online advertising firm. I’ve been there a couple months and haven’t had a day yet that has felt like work, so I think I’m in the right place!
What are a few favorite things you can’t live without? I like to keep it simple: as long as I have my chapstick, I’m pretty much set. However, I’d be pretty sad without my French press.
Who is your fashion muse, and why? When I’m feeling fancy, I look to Charlotte Charles (played by Anna Friel) from Pushing Daisies – her vintage looks are perfection! For polished everyday looks, I’m consistently inspired by Rebecca of the Clothes Horse.
What inspires you? When working, I listen to Sigur Ros – that never fails! For creative inspiration, I also love walking through World Market and antique shops. The variety of colors and textures always gives me new ideas for both decor and my wardrobe. And whenever I’m feeling stagnant or bored, re-reading the book “Pilgrim at Tinker Creek” by Annie Dillard inspires me to live with my eyes open.
Where are some of your favorite haunts? I’m going to go the stereotypical hipster route and go with our local coffee shops and breweries. My city is home to Founders, the #3 brewery in the world; there’s nothing quite like relaxing with one of their beers.
Who is your favorite designer, and why? I’m not usually one to follow specific collections or designers, but I really admire Dear Creatures and Isabel Knowles.
What puts a smile on your face? Doctor Who, my boyfriend, and anything yellow. And If I’m ever feeling down, I take a quick trip over to Reddit and browse r/corgi for cute pictures of puppies!
What’s your fashion motto? Wear what you love, don’t overthink it, and always be open to inspiration – you might be surprised where you find it.
{ Katie :: Beautifully Pure }

What’s your occupation? sales woman
What are a few favorite things you can’t live without? music, God, love
Who is your fashion muse, and why? Kaelah Bee from Little Chief Honey Bee! I adore her fearlessness when it comes to color, big shoes and prints!
What inspires you? My emotions. I’m a very emotional person, and they inspire almost all my creative endeavors. If I feel happy my outfit is likely to be very colorful whereas if I’m sad there will be more dark colors involved. The trick comes in not letting my emotions rule my analytical decisions.
Who is your favorite designer, and why? This is a toss up between Jeffery Campbell and Betsy Johnson. I adore Jeffery Campbell’s ability to make great shoes. He really goes the distance to make sure that they’re not only gorgeous, but also high quality and very comfortable. And I love Betsy Johnson’s confidence in being herself and designing prices that are more unique than the usual mainstream. (I also love her choices of color!)
What puts a smile on your face? Hearing one of my favorite songs on the radio.
What’s your fashion motto? “Dress every day as if you’d run away with the Doctor in those clothes.”
{ Jenny :: Au Bon Prix }

What’s your occupation? Commercial Consultant at PWC
What are a few favorite things you can’t live without? oh my! God, my hubby, family & maybe my phone (still figuring out if I’m addicted lol)
Who is your fashion muse, and why? I have few but definitely Folake from Style Pantry and Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook
What inspires you? I get my inspirations from any and everything.
Where are some of your favorite haunts? ASOS, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Modcloth, Anthropologie and currently getting into thrifting.
Who is your favorite designer, and why? Diane Von Furstenberg, all her designs are so well thought out for the modern woman & they NEVER go out of style.
What puts a smile on your face? My husband & shopping
What’s your fashion motto? “Create your own style…Let it be unique for yourself, yet identifiable for others.”– Anna Wintour
